    Position Summary

    The Project Engineer is to assist the Project Engineer Manager with the coordination and supervision of engineering disciplines through the design process and coordination of engineering with procurement, contracts and construction functions during the Feasibility Study (FS), Front End Engineer Design (FEED) and Detailed Design (DD) phases of the Project. This will require co-ordination with the engineering design and construction contractors to ensure the works proceed as per the project engineering plan as outlined below.

    Typical Responsibilities

    • The Project Engineer is to assist the Project Engineer Manager with the coordination and supervision of the civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines during the FS, FEED and DD phases of the Project. This will require co-ordination with the engineering design and construction contractors to ensure the works proceed as per the project engineering plan.
    • Safety – Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) procedures and contribute to safety in design work processes.
    • Coordinate assigned engineering work with other project groups and client representatives both in home and execution offices.
    • Coordinate design reviews at set project milestones and ensure any action items are fully closed.
    • Coordinate engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
    • Coordinate engineering design and construction contractors to ensure that procurement and contract related items are carried out in accordance with the project execution plan.
    • Identify, challenge and trend any changes that deviate from the project scope baseline and the facility scope documentation before proceeding with implementing the change.
    • Liaises with permit team and technical control contractor.
    • Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Formal education, with a minimum of Bachelor degree, in Engineering from an accredited university.
    • Knowledge of general engineering technology and design methods.
    • Knowledge of engineering delivery and review processes.
    • Knowledge of project reporting, schedule and budget control tools.
    • Oral and written communication skills.
    • Office automation skills, primarily word processing and spreadsheet tools.
    • Work experience (minimum 5 years) in an engineering or technology specialist role is necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above.
    • Knowledge or experience (minimum 5 years) in design and construction of mineral processing facilities is preferred but not essential.
