Engineering Manager - Belgrade

We are a pioneering network of online marketplaces and a leading European digital company that simplifies people's lives with forward-looking products. As our Engineering Manager, you'll ensure the smooth running of our engineering team and play a key role in shaping how we work and grow together.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of 7+ engineers — helping them develop their careers through coaching, mentorship, and guidance.
• Manage our Purchasing team, combining engineering leadership with product development responsibilities.
• Collaborate closely with our Product Manager to maintain alignment, foster effective communication, and build strong team cohesion.
• Contribute to the EM leadership group, representing your team's needs and sharing insights to improve processes, culture, and delivery.
• Grow and develop the team by promoting collaboration, creating cohesion, and living our SMG values.
• Be a positive force in engineering — helping shape rituals, culture, and ways of working so they enrich our daily lives.
• Challenge and refine our processes, knowing when to add structure and when to simplify, always with the goal of enabling people to thrive.

Qualifications

• You have 5 or more years of experience building software products.
• You have a strong background in software development, with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of software architecture.
• You have excellent communication skills and know when it is appropriate to solve a hairy problem in a meeting or outline a complex problem in text and diagrams
• You understand how to break down complex problems into manageable pieces of work
• You have experience building products. You have successfully worked in product teams, and have delivered features from idea through minimum lovable product to production deployment. You insist on working in an iterative process and know how to (and why) avoid big bang releases.
• You have experience building modern applications (in one of the following areas: frontend, mobile, backend, search, data storage, SRE)
• You have experience breaking modern web applications and have found ways to mitigate the things that broke and have found ways of designing systems that will be more resilient
• You know how to drive the team toward success and how to make sure that what has been committed for is also delivered.
